Fatses

Illustration

Faces are fun to create and, for me, they are one of my favourite themes for handmade sketches. You design a face, the nose, eyes, you put glasses or freckles, large eyebrows or eyelashes and, during the whole process, you get to imagine a story behind each face. When the face is complete, the only thing for me is to give it a suitable name.

I like the faces I design to have vibrant colours or certain intense characteristics to make them stand out. I first started the series ‘Fatses’ by drawing on my mobile phone.

When I tried to upload some of my ‘Fatses’ on print-on-demand websites, I realized they are perfect as prints on pillows, clutches, pencil cases, mobile phone cases, laptop cases, mugs etc. Think of a pillow on your sofa looking at you awkwardly with a mysterious smile or with wonder and a coffee mug still half-awake with just a glimpse of a smile.
